Wool: A natural "high-tech" material that ages beautifully
We use wool for two of our armchairs: Mistra and Cocon (both designed by Lucie Koldová). We are often asked if wool upholstery is a "punishment" when it comes to maintenance. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Wool is one of the smartest materials ever devised by nature.
It has incredible self-cleaning properties. Thanks to its natural lanolin content, the fiber repels dirt and liquids. This means if you spill coffee, you have plenty of time to simply blot it away with a napkin before it can soak in.
It works perfectly in every season: pleasantly cooling in the summer and warming in the winter. Unlike synthetic fabrics, wool actually breathes.
Furthermore, it is naturally flame-retardant and extremely resilient. Even after years of intensive use, it won't "sag" and will hold its shape perfectly. The more you use it, the more pleasant it feels to the touch—wool simply ages beautifully.
And maintenance? Every once in a while, just give the armchair a gentle vacuum using an upholstery attachment. This removes dust and keeps the fibers nice and fluffy.
